saturday night again

this week has flown, had ISP problems with the net connection, so nothing new to report. got my tool trolley about finished, paint and varnish and hardware all fitted, just got to screw down the bench top and slide the draws in on monday.

and of course dad and mum gave me my birthday preasent a bit early, a 6" PAULCALL jointer, so thats really really good to have. just need to find a place to put it now.

anyway got a sore throat, time to go to bed I think.

12th May 2006

gosh, how time flies.
Its been a week since I promised arthur an update on the JD. I better get those pictures taken, and I'll post some here too.

Yes, there has been some progress, the back wheels look good, and a couple of plates cut out for the crank case, and transfer case. we have been promised a look at a full size "D" cam shaft, maybe in the next few weeks. life seems a bit short tho for everything.

I have bought a Leigh Dovetail jig, http://www.leighjigs.com what a wonderful thing. this last few weekends have been very busy making a workstation for it and a few powertools. ill post pics of that soon too. I have been thinking about the old block plane enigma again.. bad news really, but would love to make a few for sale. there are some nice smoothers around, but the block plane is a blank area it seems. there isnt anything with brass amd steel dovetails and infils and a good adjuster.
some links for nice planes are:

Holtey planes
Sauer and Steiner
Bridge city

no Australian makers though.
Robert Ashby made a few a few years back, not heard from him lateley though.

I'll post some more soon.
